TANGO MARATHON IN PARIS
Next departure from February 22th to 24th of 2019
After a long journey through the cosmos, the CTHP crew is now really happy to announce that our next departure will be from February 22th to 24th of 2019 !
Since our last trip, an artificial satellite has been launched in low OL orbit that we could observe what is happening out there when tango dancers left the place.
And we have to say that the first shots reveal some really strange things…
We’re not still absolutely sure about their exact nature so the international
scientific community orderded us to keep such information under seal of confidentiality.
But we think that tango community should know what’s happening and may be able to help understanding those phenomena.
We’re now able to share some fresh news recently captured by our satellite listening device.

Originally built in 1930 by the Chambre Syndicale Typographique Parisienne in 1937 in order to hold its general meetings, this room was, perhaps presciently, inaugurated by the Colonne Orchestra in 1937.
Later, the firm Philips settled here during 50 years to record the great names of French song : Jacques Brel (Ne me quittes pas), Serge Gainsbourg (Le poinçonneur des Lilas), Barbara (Göttingen) Juliette Greco (La javanaise) and so many others.
For 3 days, the Otra Luna will come down on this beautiful place and we hope you'll be here to experiment it's effect on your tango.
For those three days of full Moon ride we will have on board great stars of music mastering!
"Fashions come and go! At a DJ-set I try to catch the mood of the moment by observing the dancers and translate this feedback into the tanda. Diversity and changing impulses are the keywords. I like to think of colours and shapes like when you paint a picture. You start at a certain point and let the whole thing evolve. Maybe you tell a story, maybe you are abstract but the most important is that you express something through the music you play and that you make the people dance!"
Karel’s musicalization is inspired by the diversity of the milongas of Buenos Aires. From the most traditional, where the código structures the harmony of the ball, to the emerging scenes, where the renewal of contemporary orchestras is bubbling. As a dancer, he is attentive to the energy, finesse and melodic richness of his sets. He dreams that one night his deejaying will produce an effect as radical as those of Vernon Subutex.
Ieva started musicalising milongas in 2008. In her own regular milonga “Balta Pirts” in Riga and in various tango events in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia and Belarus.
She plays traditional music (essentially from the 30’s and 40’s), trying to create a smooth flow of music that makes tandas and cortinas one united story of the milonga. She tries to connect with the dancers, feeling their energy and mood, to offer them a pleasant and energetically charged music with a slight sentimental touch.
DJ Marinette discovered tango a decade ago. Very quickly passionate, she turned first to the transmission of dance, which she taught for 5 years in Rennes, then to the musicalization of milongas.
Her first loves are the tangos of the 30s-40s, Di Sarli, Canaro, Donato, Tipica Victor, then D'Arienzo, Biagi, Troilo… Then come more orchestrated tangos (De Angelis, Pugliese, Calo, Domingo, Maderna…) that take an important place, especially to create contrasts with more rhythmic tangos.
She particularly likes to find a harmony between these different energies, to make a possible way from modern to ancient, from staccato to lyrical, from light to intense... to vary the pleasures and to propose several colors for their interpretation to the dancers.
DJ Vincent has been giving music to the most beautiful Parisian and european milongas for already 10 years. "For me, musicalizing is like dancing mentally and with everyone. I am very attentive to the feelings of dancers and the effects of the music on their moods". Tandas after tandas, cortinas after cortinas, he seeks to develop an atmosphere, to tell a story, sometimes intense and dramatic, sometimes light and joyful... and above all that make you want to stand up! A bailar!
DJ Volkan started Dj'ing in 2011. He believes that the real leadership in tango is to be able to use the music to convey the emotional state that its creates. This understanding of tango is reflected on his music selections. His main concern is to keep the dancers on the dance floor and to create a peaceful atmosphere. He selects records of well known tango orchestras, mostly from late 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. Beside of this main structure he enriches the night with new tango orchestras and less known records.
I love making the milonga grow, making it a real pary !
I had an intimate relation with this music ever since I was a teenager and did my steps in the milongas of Buenos Aires. I've spent so many hours at so many exotic milongas around the globe, that I now feel it's mood and energy in a instant.
So as a DJ, the most important thing to me is to keep the connexion with the dancers : I listen to their energy and I modulate the tandas to push their pleasure at its peak, so does mine !
Tango Cuisine : Being a dancer myself, I know that in tango it is all about connection, connection on the dance floor and connection with old and new friends.

For me, as a cook, the most important thing happens after the eating, when everybody is on the dance floor, happy and full of energy doing what we all love best, dancing and more dancing.
